The project
The province of Noord-Brabant, in collaboration with Clappform, is developing a Data Governance application that provides centralized visibility into all metadata of provincial data assets. Employees can easily identify which assets are available per theme or program, how frequently they are updated, and who they can contact for inquiries or detailed information.
This creates a complete and up-to-date overview of the provincial data landscape, improving communication regarding data and making collaboration between departments more efficient and transparent.

The challenge
Within the province, information regarding data assets was fragmented across various departments, documents, and systems. A centralised overview was lacking, making it unclear which data was available, how up-to-date it was, and which team members to contact with questions. This hindered collaboration and resulted in inefficient communication concerning data.
Our solution
The Data Governance application creates a single central repository where all metadata of provincial data assets is brought together. Employees can easily see which data is associated with a specific theme or programme, how frequently it is updated, and who the responsible administrator is.
Users can, among other things:
See which datasets are available and which theme or program they belong to
Gain insight into how often a dataset is updated
Find out who the responsible data owner, steward, or expert is
Trace the origin of data via data lineage, including the impact of changes at a source
Assess data quality based on the checks performed
Work according to a consistent naming standard when linking systems and datasets
